I just posted a language proposal to the Yahoo mailing list:
I think we should use "-o" to make language names. So, or example:
English: Englo = La engla lango ("the English language").
Portuguese: Portugalo = La portugala lango ("the Portuguese language").
I think this is a lot better.
1) It is much shorter to say "Englo" or "Portugalo" than "Englango" or "Portugalango", which is what is "correct" today.
Technically, talking about "Monda" or "Engla" is wrong because those are adjectives. I do it because "Mondlango" and "Englango" is so awkward.
2) This is consistent with using the word "Espernato". Currently we say "Engla", "Mondlango" and "Esperanto". Ugh! This is totally inconsistent! Better to say "Englo", "Mondo" and "Esperanto":
Englo = La engla lango.
Mondo = La monda lango.
Esperanto = La esperanta lango.
3) This is consistent with something Oiam said today. Oiam explained that we can turn "Helpi" into "Helpo". Then we should be able to turn "Engla" into "Englo".
If you like my idea, please go to the Yahoo mailing list and say "yay".
Cheers,
Daniel.
